Start with the rooms and the entrance
If you live in an apartment with an intercom, ask how a responder would reach your unit. If you have stairs or more than one level, include the furthest room and any laundry area in the approved test. Do not assume a home-only button covers a shared hallway or building courtyard without checking.
Use your usual route as the example
NYC DOT’s Bronx River Greenway map connects places such as Starlight Park and Concrete Plant Park. If that corridor or another outdoor route is part of your week, describe it when comparing home and mobile systems. The map establishes the places; it does not establish any device’s cellular reception.
Check sound, wearing and charging
Ask where the speaker is and what happens if the operator cannot hear you. Practice using the proposed charger with your normal setup. If family helps with account notices, confirm exactly which alerts the plan provides and whether additional fees apply.
Choose a realistic backup
Your nearest relative may work elsewhere or be unable to enter the building. Discuss a backup contact and any approved access arrangement with the selected provider. Keep entry codes and sensitive details out of a general sales request.
